We started our journey from Vadodara at 6:00am. As we head towards The Statue of Unity there are sign boards around 90km before, welcoming you to the tallest statue. Roads are extremely good and well maintained. We visited in the month on January. The temperature were freezing cold in the morning, and due to fog we could hardly see anything around. Our speed was limited to 30kmph.

We were expecting to see the Statue from far away, but due to climate we could not see. As we reached near to our destination our curiosity started to increase and then all of a sudden a huge statue appeared on right hand side. and we were stunned and amazed at the same time. As it was foggy and nothing much was visible and then all of sudden a gigantic statue stunned us.

We reached the around 7:30am. There is a very big parking available for thousands of car. We parked our car and then headed to get our ticket. Rs.120/- per person. for normal entry. Ticket for Observatory deck need to be booked online, which i dint know. and when tried booking them whey were unavailable. so we just took our basic entry ticket and went inside. The area is very very big and you need to walk a lot so be ready for that. As the statue is Gigantic the ares for that needs to be gigantic. Escalators on both going and coming side help you reach with comfort and ease.
As we enter there is wall of unity saying Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat and then we head towards statue.

After that we entered museum which is situated just bellow the statue. A huge exhibition hall covering an area of 4,647 square metres has been set up in the pedestal of the Statue of Unity. The hall showcases the life of Sardar Patel, his contributions to the Freedom Movement against British rule and his role in the merger of princely states. The Shoolpaneshwar Wildlife Sanctuary, the life and culture of the tribal people of Gujarat and the Sardar Sarovar Dam are also displayed through an Audio-Visual show

As we could not get tickets for the viewing gallery we could not go up. But we really were amazed to see the statue and the facilities provided. Its not just Statue or an investment of  Rs.3000cr. its way beyond that and a vision is for generations ahead to come.

About The Statue
The Statue of Unity is a testimonial to the life of Sardar Patel, a role model of unity and statesmanship. The tallest statue of the world enjoys a splendidly scenic location facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam, 3.2 kilometres away. This colossal statue stands on the isle of Sadhu-Bet in River Narmada, at Kevadia, District Rajpipla in the Indian State of Gujarat, with the majestic Vindhyachal and Satpuda Mountain Ranges in the backdrop. The statue is fast becoming one of the country’s top tourist attractions. Aimed to inspire generations, the Statue showcases Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s vision on unity, patriotism, inclusive growth and good governance.
The monument compound is spread across 20,000 square metres, surrounded by a 12 km artificial lake. The project was carried out by a Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Rashtriya Ekta Trust (SVPRET) which was established for this purpose. The magnanimous Statue is designed by the Indian Sculptor, Padma Bhushan awardee Ram Vanji Sutar. The construction of the final product was taken up by the Indian company Larson & Tourbo and the total project was estimated to have cost 3000 Crore INR (420 million USD). The Iron needed for the project was supposed to be collected from the used farming equipment from farmers all around the nation, who were the most cared by Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. Due to some problems, nearly 5000 tonnes of iron collected was used for a different part of the same project but not the statue. Along with the project in progress, SVPRET's Statue of Unity Movement organised the Suraaj Petition which included the ideas for good governance by the people and resulted in becoming the world's largest signed petition.

There are many more attractions around, but as we were short on time we could not visit other places.

It does not matter if you are a critic or supporter of SOU you should definitely visit it. Vision for future development is clearly seen. Hats off to the Whole Team. Hats of to our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi jii. Hats of to Gujarat Government, and to all the people who are involved in development and maintenance of this man made wonder. Not to forget the worker who are working there as janitor and keeping the surrounding near and clean.
